I have several OS Max 35S engines that have play between the wrist pin and piston. Is it better to ream the piston for an oversize pin, or bush the piston?

I know about some usualy problems on this tipe of engine, regarding the conrod's ends. In your situation, if you just simply ream the piston and conrod a little bit (not to much, just to ensure a round hole), it will be ok, but you will need a new oversized wrist pin. You can adapt a new one (wrist pin), using a simple tail cuted from a drill. In my opinion, bushing an iron piston is not a good ideea, you have not enough space inside, compared with an aluminium piston, wich it have a solide structure and enough space for bushes.

Can you know the dimension of the old pin? Try to find a calibrated reamer that is in range. You can ream the orthogonal hole even using the tool by your hand. It will take some time, but it will be ok. After that, the piston, same way. We can find one good pin for the new dimension.
