I'm going to post the short version first. I got a Fox 35S from Xbay that turned out to be completely worn out. After much grinding and reaming and lapping, I grafted a McCoy 35 crank into the Fox case. After reaming the lower end of the rod, I assembled it with a new P&C assy. It actually runs, and very well indeed.

after 3 bench runs, I decided to try to fly this thing. I mounted it in an old Barnstormer and put up 3 flights. on the third flight, I lost control and pancaked it in, but the engine did great. I need to put it into a better plane and see what happens.

I put the McFox in the GarfStormer and put up 3 more flights on it. it is doing better than it has a right to. Now I only need a good tank.

A little bit off topic, but...meet Frankensteine, a 12.5 cc engine!

It is an engine built from other 4 engines, four years ago. The case and cylinder assy are from a romanian IPL twin cylinders (25 cc) engine. The c/case and crankshaft are from hungaryan MOKI M7 (10cc), carb throtle from russian MDS and mufler is Supertigre. Unfortunately, I don't have more photos for details, but the engine is somewhere in the "Politehnica" workshop, retired and bored (I am intending to visit it and take some new pictures...or maybe Bitex cand do this job for me, he!).

Did you have to do any grinding or reaming?

No. But I made some parts, using the late, to adapt the c/case within main case. Oh...and I bushed the big end of the conrod. (and some small adapts for mufler and carb)

I crashed the McFox 35 and bent the crankshaft. I have already disassembled the engine, straightened the crank, and reassembled the engine. Now to run it.

Are you sure about starting it again? In my experience, it's not safe to start an engine again after its crankshaft was bent in an accident.....even if it was straightened.....

Even if it starts, the vibrations can damage the plane...

I bought an OS H40 at a flea market that turned out to have a bent crank. I straightened it and have run it many times. It runs perfect. IF the crank isn't bent too far, and IF the crank isn't too hard, it can be straightened. It is possible for the shaft to break without warning. I'm very good at straightening cranks.
